Compagnie de Financement Foncier issued the longest covered bond since June 2007. It is also its first benchmark issue since February 2008.
Compagnie de Financement Foncier took advantage of investor’s interest for attractive yields. The book order surged to €1bn within 30 minutes before reaching a final size of €1.5bn.
For the geographic breakdown, 43% of the obligations foncières issued were placed in Germany and Austria, 37% in France, 2% in Benelux, and 8% in other countries. Concerning the investor breakdown, banks represented almost 20% of orders and “buy and hold” investors nearly 80% (45% of fund managers and 35% insurance companies). This book order contains a record amount of “buy and hold” investors.
With this issue, Compagnie de Financement Foncier demonstrated its ability to launch a longer issue at a more aggressive level than recent issues on the market.
